Behind the dream
Behind the dream
Saviero De Silva is more than merely a brand, its proof in fashion form of what can be achieved when you hold on firmly to hope and belief, even from the depths of the bleakest despair. I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease some years back - a bitter blow at the time but a moment that steadily morphed into a life-altering catalyst for everlasting change.
The diagnosis was received as a shuddering jolt at the time, stabbing like a dagger deep into the heart of my soul but which, over time, knocked my perspective on life into crystal clarity.
Parkinson’s disease is far from the ideal bed-fellow for life as a stressed out City lawyer labouring all hours for the benefit of demanding clients. So I hastily put pen to paper, or rather hand to keyboard, drafted my resignation letter, leapt out from behind my stultifying desk and let my creative instincts flow. And flow they did, tsunami-like, years of pent up, suffocated creativity and inspiration unleashed, set free.
And like a Phoenix resurrected from the dark, heavy-set embers of depression, the long held dream of launching a menswear fashion range was re-born, then lovingly nurtured through to maturity. Given the oxygen of life by the love of family and friends Saviero De Silva came of age and was launched in London in 2025.
Why the name? That was the easy part. I needed look no further than my reasons for being, the purpose behind carrying on: the most cherished treasures the universe had kindly bestowed on me, my two sons, James Saviero and Ben De Silva.
